J.J. Jurgens is an Emmy nominated writer/producer/actor. She creates the promos for CBS Daytime and her voice can be heard on numerous commercial campaigns and promos. She was also the voice of MTV's "Sex with Mom & Dad" and online shows for E! Enterntainment.
J.J. is the creator/host of TomGirl TV, a site dedicated to a new breed of adventurous, rugged, athletic women. She is a former collegiate athlete with a Master's Degree is Sports Broadcasting and is devoted to giving back and promoting strong, female athletes.
Prior to CBS, she worked as an executive producer for MCA Records interviewing their artists and creating EPK’s. She was also an associate producer for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ DodgerVision, directing the in-stadium show on the big screen. One of her favorite moments was being the camera operator the day that Steve Finley hit his walk off grand slam to win the National League West title and being in the middle of the action when he crossed home plate.
J.J. was born and raised on a lake in Omaha, Nebraska. This began her love of lake life and water sports. She grew up a tomboy, always trying to keep up with her older brother Tad. She was a ballet dancer, ran track, played softball, volleyball and soccer, but it was her love of basketball that would change her life.
It was this small town girl’s dream to one-day play basketball for the University of Nebraska. So in seventh grade, J.J. attended basketball camp at Nebraska. She was so excited to go to coach Angela Beck’s camp that she fainted in the lobby at check-in. It was the most embarrassing day of her seventh grade life. But, Coach Beck was impressed and gave J.J. the award at the end of camp for being the “most enthusiastic camper” stating she had never had anyone be so excited to come to her camp that they fainted. Five years later in her senior year, J.J. wrote Coach Beck a letter asking for permission to walk-on to the Nebraska team. Coach Beck remembered the fainter, allowed her to walk-on, and then gave her a full-ride scholarship.
J.J. went on to receive her Master’s in Journalism from the University of Nebraska. She was the first person to graduate from their specialized Sports Marketing/Broadcasting Master’s program. This fueled her love for entertainment and sports broadcasting. Upon graduation, J.J. worked for HuskerVision, the university’s athletic television production group, producing for shows such as The Tom Osborne Show. ESPN and ABC Sports aired packages J.J. produced.
Since that day in seventh grade, J.J. always tries to live her life as the most enthusiastic camper, bringing passion and excitement to all she does. She tries not to faint, however.
J.J. lives in Los Angeles with her two rescue dogs, a Weimaraner named Sandler (yes, after her celeb crush Adam Sandler) and mix Marley.
